Cookie Policy

What a cookie is doing here

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. Some are unavoidable if the site is to work at all, and some are optional. drivecolombo.com uses a small number of both. We also use similar browser storage, such as local storage, to keep a recent car search on your own device for a few minutes so that moving between pages does not repeat the same query. That storage stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

The categories we use

Strictly necessary

Keep the site working: remembering your language, carrying your search from one page to the next, and protecting forms against abuse.

Typical lifetime
Session, or up to one year for a language preference
Consent
No consent needed. The site cannot function without these.

Preference

Remember choices you made, such as a filter or a sort order on the results board, so the page looks the same when you come back to it.

Typical lifetime
Up to one year
Consent
Set only after you accept.

Performance and analytics

Count visits and see which pages people actually read, in aggregate, so we know which guides are worth extending.

Typical lifetime
Up to two years
Consent
Set only after you accept.

Partner and referral

Record that a booking came from this site so the supplier can credit the referral. This is how the site is paid for.

Typical lifetime
Typically up to thirty days
Consent
Set only after you accept.

Third parties

Our rental inventory partner sets a referral cookie when you open an offer, which is what allows a completed booking to be attributed to this site. Our content delivery and security provider may set a cookie to distinguish a visitor from automated traffic. Our analytics provider sets cookies in the performance category. These third parties process data under their own policies; we do not use them to build advertising profiles.

Changing your mind

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time, and every major browser lets you do this per site. Blocking the strictly necessary category will break parts of the site, most obviously the search. Clearing your browser storage also clears the cached car search, so the next page you open will fetch fresh results.

Updates

We revise this page when the providers behind the site change. The review date at the top is the version you are reading.
